On Friday, June 20, 2025, the Hawaiʻi Access to Justice Conference, sponsored by the Hawai‘i Access to Justice Commission, attracted over 250 attendees. Keynote speaker Hawai‘i Supreme Court Chief Justice Mark E. Recktenwald provided inspiring remarks and Second Circuit Judge (ret.) Joseph Cardoza, chair of the Commission, gave an update of the Commission’s activities. Justice McKenna and present Judiciary staff (judges, law clerks, and judicial assistants) honored and surprised Chief Justice Recktenwald with a song tribute. (This was his last Hawai`i Access to Justice Conference in his role as Chief Justice.)
